Introduction: The Devon Rex is a unique cat breed known for its distinctive appearance characterized by short, wavy hair that often appears curly or even absent on certain parts of the body due to a genetic mutation. This mutation also affects other aspects of their physical features, resulting in an elfin-like appearance.
Lifespan: The average lifespan of a Devon Rex is around 9–13 years, although with proper care they can live longer.
Coat Length: Their coats are considered semi-longhaired but have a peculiar texture; it feels soft yet almost rough at times due to the curliness of individual hairs. Some Devon Rex cats may be more prone to bald patches where the fur does not grow back completely because of the underlying genetic condition affecting hair growth throughout their bodies including whiskers which gives them an alien-like look sometimes described as “pixie” or “space kitten”.
